Types of French Manicure Tips
French manicure tips are one of the most classic looks you can achieve with your nails besides clear polish. While the French manicure is quite basic, today's variations on it are anything but! A French manicure goes with every outfit and looks good on every skin tone. There are different ways to get this look for yourself. The first technique requires the use of a whitening pencil. A whitening pencil is moistened and rubbed under the nails to make them white. After that, you simply need to paint the nails with a sheer shade and top with a protective clear coat.
The whitening pencil method isn't quite as popular as simply painting on the white tips. There are even stick-on guides available these days to ensure perfectly straight white tips every time. Many salons can airbrush the tips on using a small airbrush and stencils. If you do your French manicure at home, the stick on guides are the best way to go. You can buy French manicure kits which contain the guides, white polish, and sheer polish. Today's sheer polishes are available in a variety of choices.
The classic choice is sheer pink or beige. New choices include sheer peach and sheer lavender. Pearlescent sheer shades are also popular. Most any color can be used for a traditional French manicure, as long as it is see-through and pastel. Of course, some French manicures these days totally go against tradition and use bright shades on the tip. One variation is to paint the moons of the nail one color and the rest of the nail bed another. Some airbrush French manicures incorporate fancy shapes and designs into the look as well. For example, the tip may feature angular criss-cross lines or a strip of silver sparkle right below the white tip.
French manicure tips can be long or short. However, they cannot be too short or you won't be able to see the tips at all. The French pedicure is becoming very popular as well. It is done in the exact same way as the manicure is. If you don't have long enough toenails, you can actually buy artificial toenails that have already been painted. A matching mani-pedi is the ultimate in feminine expression and luxury!
